Shipper's Interest Insurance is a relatively new product to the domestic trucking market. Having been initially developed for the international freight forwarding industry, it has been recently expanded to become more available for domestic OTR shipments.
Shipper's interest differs from standard carrier cargo coverage in several ways. Primarily it does not require carrier/driver negligence or that the carrier establish/accept liability for the damage. It also typically provides a superior level of coverage and claims processing timeline.
